brushing grasses

I am walking on the island of Majorca. The walking is very varied: sometimes on rocky paths, sometimes through woods, and sometimes through grassland, wild grasses. And walking amongst these grasses, they brush against me, and I notice, if my mind is not busy with other things, that the sensation of the grass brushing my legs is exquisite. It's so gentle, it seems to be playing with the hairs on my leg. And if I really bring my awareness to this delicate sensation, it's almost erotic – so sensual, so pleasurable. And all of this just from taking a walk amongst the grasses. I don't need to do anything else, just walk slowly along, paying attention to the sensations: the breeze on my skin, the sunlight warming me, and these wild grasses teasing me, playing with me, stroking me, brushing against my legs. Ahh.

And for me this is a manifestation of tantra. Tantra is really, simply allowing ourselves to enjoy bodily sensations, to enjoy all our senses, without shame, without feeling awkward. These pleasures are here for the taking. They are a part of our life. They are part of who we are. We should not condemn them. We should appreciate them to the full. And this is what these wild grasses are reminding me of today. The simple pleasures of life are here, if we just take a moment to bring our awareness to our senses, to the sensations that life is offering up, the delicacy, the exquisiteness. The whole of life can be this tantric dance, if we allow it. We need to do nothing. It's all here for free. We just need to accept and allow our sensuous nature, and enjoy it to the full.
